FamilyWise
- white label solution
What
is FamilyWise?
FamilyWise
is one of Creativity Software’s mobile location white label solutions.
It gives service providers the ability to offer a child locator solution
to their customers.
FamilyWise
leverages the power of mobile network infrastructure by using a Location
Based Service (LBS) platform to deliver the location of the child’s
mobile phone. This maximises the potential of the service adoption as
there is no need for GPS-enabled phones or other specialised device to
be carried by the child (although the system also supports GPS phones
to be tracked, if required).
While
the system was originally designed for parents to locate their children,
families can use it to locate other family members, or even by friends
to locate each other.
Who
uses FamilyWise?
FamilyWise
is aimed at service providers (e.g. incumbent telcos, mobile
operators, MVNO’s, ISP’s and directory service providers,
among others) serving a large number of consumers / residential customers
who are looking to bring new (revenue-generating) value-add services to
their customer base.

Functionality
of FamilyWise
FamilyWise
incorporates all the necessary components to deploy a mobile locator service.
The components of the FamilyWise white label solution include:
Communication
centre
It
allows the user to send SMS or MMS messages to the mobile phone being
located. If more than one mobile phone is being located at a time, the
system allows for multiple messages to be sent simultaneously, making
it ideal to be used by groups of friends (for services such as Buddy Finder)
and not just by families.
Mobile
positioning (location look up)
With
the touch of a button, parents can see on a map where their children are
(or spouses can locate each other). The system provides the ability to
get the location of a person via a mobile phone. This is done by sending
a short code sms to the system, which in turn sends a sms back with the
address where the person is located. Alternatively, the system can be
configured to allow MMS messages to be sent with the map of the location
of the person being located.
Billing
The
FamilyWise delivery platform provides a billing mechanism that simplifies
the service offering while decreasing the time-to-market for the service
implementation. The billing system allows for users to top-up their account
using their credit card and it allows an automatic top-up.
Admin
The
online administration section of the service provides end users with an
array of functions such as Add / Activate / Remove mobile to locate, Account
history and other ways for the user to have full control of the account.
The system also allows the parents to check and control who can locate
their children and who can locate them (family members or friends).
How
the service works
 |
Parents
sends a request to locate their child, either by computer or by
phone (sms)
|
 |

Mobile
phone of the child is located

|
Child’s
location is displayed on the computer (map) or on the phone (map
or text)
|
|
Ensuring
child safety
The
service requires the permission of the person you wish to locate –
which is done by sending and receiving a PIN to their handset. Once that
permission is obtained, unlimited location searches can be made. The person
is sent occasional SMS reminders for their peace of mind and is instructed
how to terminate the service at any time. If the permission is not received,
the service is not provided.
The service does not provide pinpoint accuracy, it restricts accuracy
of locations to 150 metres. This level of accuracy provides sufficient
information to parents who know where their children should be, and is
therefore of value to them.
