What is WorkforceWise and who is it for?

WorkforceWise is one of Creativity Software’s off-the-shelf mobile location white label solutions. It gives telecom service providers (telcos, mobile operators, ISP’s, etc.) the ability to offer an online mobile worker location tracking and management service to their corporate customers.

WorkforceWise leverages the power of mobile network infrastructure (Cell-Id technology) by using a Location Based Service (LBS) platform to deliver the location of people, making the service affordable to the end users.

While the accuracy of the location given by the system relies on the infrastructure and location determination method used by the mobile network, it is important to note that Cell-Id technology provides sufficient accuracy to meet 90% of the requirements by enterprises to locate their mobile staff.

WorkforceWise does not require GPS devices to be carried by the mobile staff. However, for those large enterprises that require higher levels of location accuracy and/or additional functionality, e.g. corporate telemetry or emergency services, the system provides the flexibility to use one or both location technologies (Cell-Id and/or GPS/A-GPS). Creativity Software can supply a variety of GPS devices through its partners, if required.

Delivery Options

WorkforceWise can be offered on an ASP model (where Creativity Software hosts the infrastructure) or it can be licensed by the operator as a standalone solution. While WorkforceWise is offered as a ready solution, the platform allows some level of customisation to adapt the service to customers’ specific requirements.

WorkforceWise is offered as White Label solution allowing the customer to brand the front end of the service (website) with the name, language and design of choice.

Functional Specification

Location Look-up
WorkforceWise allows the end user to locate one or multiple mobile workers in real time. Searches can take place at any time from any internet connected PC or from a mobile phone. The location of the person is displayed on a map on the computer screen or on a mobile phone (via wap push); or by providing the address to the mobile phone by sms.

WorkforceWise provides a messaging engine which allows enterprise users to send short text messages to their mobile workers to provide them with customer information, maps and/or routing information for their next destination, or it can be used to broadcast a message to groups of employees or all remote workers.

Similarly, WorkforceWise gives the ability to field workers to send pictures or videos taken with their mobile phones back to their employers, in real time. This allows a quick viewing and evaluation of a situation happening in the field, enabling an effective decision making.

Map Search
WorkforceWise incorporates a map search function allowing end users to find a particular place or address. This information can then be communicated to the mobile worker, along with routing information.

Billing
WorkforceWise provides an off-the-shelf billing engine, which has been designed to operate on a Pay-As-You-Go (prepaid) basis. Customers need to have credits on their online account to pay for the transactions (if applicable). When credits are running low customers can top up their accounts with a credit card. This can be done manually or it can be configured by the user to take credit automatically when it reaches a low threshold. The cost of transactions charged to customers are defined by the Service Provider / Mobile Operator who is offering the service to their customers. WorkforceWise offers the flexibility to adapt the billing platform to suit the specific requirements.

Security
The ensure the security of the service, the system can be configured to operate on a ‘consent basis’ (opt-in) to avoid unauthorised people tracking the location of a company’s employees. If this option is chosen, after creating an account online enterprises need to register the mobile phone numbers of the remote staff to be tracked. The system starts tracking the location of an employee when he / she has given consent, by replying to a sms received requesting permission to allow the company to locate him / her.

Administration
WorkforceWise provides a set of admin tools that allow enterprises to monitor and manage their remote workers effectively. These include the following:

Add / Edit / Remove – individual workers or groups

Location Look-up log history – the system can also be pre-configured to log the location of staff at predefined times / dates

Communication logs – view all the messages sent from and to staff, with various filters

Billing history – it allows enterprises to monitor and justify expenditure on the service.
