TravelWise - How it works

TravelWise, using Rough Guides Mobile, runs as a Java Platfom Micro Edition (J2ME) application, able to operate in our proprietary, Symbian, Linux Java and Windows Mobile operating environments. The platform, moreover, supports all major regional content and languages (EFGIS, Russian and Chinese).

As an alternative to Rough Guides Mobile, TravelWise is flexible enough to be used with other travel information brands. It can also search through local points of interest databases to match the needs of your customers.

We have customised TravelWise to be able to use specific device functionality and user interface requirements, making it a great choice for mobile device manufacturers. Samsung, for example, required an exact, list-based user interface for their model.

TravelWise is location aware, and its functions range from Get Me There to Buddy Finder to Local Search. It uses GPS where available and Cell-ID as a default. The application is, moreover, compatible with social networking, trip logging, buddy finder and user-generated content.
